The ringtail Hen Harrier was showing well, quartering the western end of No 6 tank. Wildfowl counted were 33 Shelduck, 480 Teal, 54 Wigeon, 1 Gadwall, 114 Mallard, 8 Shoveler and 9 Tufted Duck. Waders were limited to a male Ruff, 1 Black-tailed Godwit and 3 Redshank with a flock of around 360 Golden Plover only seen overhead. A female Stonechat was in the reeds below the observation point.
 .
Over on No 4 tank a 2nd summer male Marsh Harrier was being harassed by Ravens.
 .
The pale morph Buzzard was again on No 3 tank. In flight its pale rufous tail gives it a rather Steppe Buzzard like jizz but when perched it’s clearly a Common Buzzard.
 .
On the Weaver, 3 Barnacle Geese still with the Canada’s commuting between the estuary and No 1 tank. Also 24 Goldeneye, 74 Tufted Duck, 1 Pochard, 1 Great Crested Grebe and 4 Little Grebes. Low water levels meant a mud bank is again developing on the Bend, hosting 700 Lapwing and 17 Redshank.

Bearing in mind the marsh and the Mersey Valley is still attracting four birds (2 males, 2 females) of two species of harrier (Marsh & Hen) which have been present over the last few weeks, today saw a female Hen Harrier on the marsh.

The old Kamira woods attracted a Great Spotted Woodpecker, 5 Goldcrest and a small mixed Siskin/Redpoll flock.
